To estimate your fare, we have provided an example using the standard fare rates (as per below) and how they could be calculated. Please make allowance for the delays due to traffic flow and stopping time applied when vehicle travelling below 21km per hour. Our estimate below may not include applicable extras such as tolls, airport fee and government fees. This is an estimate only, the actual fare will vary.

Example: Jenny wants to travel from the Geelong Train Station to Avalon Airport at 1pm on Tuesday. The distance is approximately 22.5 kilometers.

Google distance (22.5 kms) x standard day rate ($2.63 per kilometer) =$59.18

Geelong urban taxi fares

Standard Taxi
  • Distance: $2.63 per kilometre
  • Time: $0.91 per minute while vehicle speed is below 21 km/h
  • Flagfall: $4.65
  • Phone Booking: $2.30 entered on the taxi-meter at the end of the trip
Standard Taxi Surcharges
  • Late Night: A $4.30 surcharge applies to all hirings which commence between midnight and 6.00am on weekdays and from 7pm to 6am on Friday & Saturday nights and is automatically calculated and displayed on the taxi-meter.
  • Public Holiday: $5.25
  • Multiple Hirers: Allowed with the consent of the first and subsequent hirers. Each hirer pays 75% of the fare shown on the meter at the end of their particular section of the trip. A driver cannot refuse a fare based on distance.
Maxi Taxi
  • Distance: $3.95 per kilometre standard (up to 4 passengers) / $3.82 high occupancy (5 - 10 passengers)
  • Time: $1.36 per minute while vehicle speed is below 21km/h
  • Flagfall: $4.65
  • Phone Booking: $2.30 entered on the taxi-meter at the end of the trip
Maxi Taxi Surcharges
  • Late Night: A $4.30 surcharge applies to all hirings which commence between midnight and 6.00am on weekdays and from 7pm to 6am on Friday & Saturday nights and is automatically calculated and displayed on the taxi-meter.
  • Public Holiday: $5.25 (applied from 7pm on the evening prior to public holiday)

High occupancy rates do not apply on those occasions where a wheelchair passenger presents a Multi-Purpose Taxi Program card for the journey, even if five or more passengers are carried. For group or customised bookings please call our call centre.

Standard Taxi – Regional Surcharges
  • Late Night: A $3.40 surcharge applies to all hirings occurring between midnight and 6am weekdays and between 7pm to 6am on Fridays and Saturdays. The late-night surcharge is calculated automatically and displayed on the taxi meter.
  • Public Holiday: $4.20 (applied from 7pm on the evening prior to public holiday)
